1 in 3 Smokers Would Stop Smoking To Protect Pet

Do you know that smoke also can harm your pets? Well, yes it is. New research show many smokers would stop to kick his habit to protect their pets.

Secondhand smoke causes almost 50,000 deaths in adult nonsmokers in the United States each year, and affect a pet’s health as well :
  1. Bronchial disease in both dogs and cats
  2. oral cancer and lymphoma in cats
  3. nasal and lung cancer in dogs
  4. lung cancer, and eye, skin, and heart problems in pet birds.
Estrimated calculation shows that pet owners spent $10.5 billion in US (2008) for pet supplies, OTC medications, expensive procedure for diagnosis (MRIs and CT scans). Pet owners will do just about anything to safeguard their animals.

In the survey, 28.4% of smokers said they would consider quitting after learning that secondhand smoke posed a danger to their pet. One in five smoking pet owners said they would ban smoking inside their home.

For doctors who treat people, pets could be one more way to motivate smokers to kick the habit. This may be a way to reach them and motivate people, but it potentially could be a way to target smokers from a new angle.

Those School Backpacks Are Too Heavy For Children!!

Many school children slightly hunched over, carrying a backpack on their backs. Do you how heavy they carry their back pack? They have to hunch forward a bit many times under the weight and they do this every day.

Because children are still developing, they are more susceptible to injury.

You should review your child’s backpack to carry. What can you do?
  1. Not to overload the backpack
  2. Put in only what is needed for a couple of hours at school and then going back to the locker for the next batch
  3. They should not put the backpack strap over one shoulder and not the other Using both straps on the pack is good for weight distribution

9 Things to Protect Skin in Winter

Skincare is totally seasonal, just like wardrobe. In summer, we're busy with sun protection and tanners, while in winter we addicted to moisturizers because the skin gets so dried out and flaky.
So why the dry skin in winter? Low temperatures, low humidity and strong, harsh winds deplete skin of its natural lipid layer which keeps the skin from drying out.
To keep your skin feeling dewy and moist even in the harsh winter weather, follow these:

1. Keep Water warm, Not Hot
  • Hot water robs skin of moisture, so it's best to shower in a warm water. Try to keep your warm showers short and try showering only once per day. This also means skipping the hot tubs in winter.
  • The same rule applies to hand-washing: Wash hands in warm, never hot, water. If the skin turns red, the water is simply too hot.
2. Moisturize After Showers or Handwashing
  • Moisturizer is the key to soft, supple skin in winter. Apply product when skin is slightly damp.
  • Antibacterial soap in public places can be harsh on hands. To keep cuticles soft, I massage in olive oil.
3. Exfoliate on a Weekly Basis
  • Moisturizer is much more effective on properly exfoliated skin.
  • Use a scrub in the shower and exfoliate facial skin with a mild scrub made for the face. Apply scrub to dry skin before you turn on the water, it's more effective than brushing in the shower to remove the flaky skin.

  • A room heated by a furnace can have as little as 10 percent moisture
